COMMUNITY OUTREACH
In addition to grants and other financial support, the Foundation uses different resources to enrich and strengthen GP communities in the following positive ways:
Disaster Relief
The Georgia-Pacific Foundation helps communities devastated by the effects of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, California wild fires, and the recent flooding in the Midwest with in-kind donations of household products, such as Dixie® cups, cutlery and plates, bath tissue, and paper towels. We also have shipped building materials to affected areas to ensure adequate supplies for repairs to facilitate community rebuilding.

Martin Luther King Jr. Papers
Georgia-Pacific honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through annual employee events and by partnering with The King Center. In 2007, GP served as a key participant and contributor in the bid to bring Dr. King's memoirs, papers and writings back to Atlanta. In collaboration with other city and community leaders, corporations and business philanthropists, we helped the city of Atlanta return this historic volume of work to Dr. King's alma mater, Morehouse College. Currently, Dr. King's legacy resides at the Morehouse College library and will travel across the country to be viewed by the public.
ServiceForce
Georgia-Pacific continues to demonstrate its corporate citizenship in a variety of ways. We provide opportunities for employees to make a difference while networking and enhancing professional skills through our ServiceForce volunteer program. GP employees, retirees and their families volunteer for company-sponsored service projects as well as individual volunteer activities in their communities. ServiceForce volunteer activities focus on the Georgia-Pacific's strategic investment areas of Education, Environment, Community Enrichment and Entrepreneurship, as well local community needs.
