ENVIRONMENT
Since a healthy environment is crucial to any town, city or neighborhood, nowhere is Georgia-Pacific's commitment to building strong communities better exemplified than in our stewardship of natural resources and the environment.
We believe that adhering to sound science is the best way to keep and protect our natural resources. Consequently, we work with scientific institutions to develop the solutions, expertise and scientific data necessary to sustain our natural resources and help resolve environmental concerns. To support these efforts, the Georgia-Pacific Foundation funds environmental programs, such as the Keystone Institute Science School, Keep America Beautiful and The Nature Conservancy.
Keystone Institute Science School
Georgia-Pacific is a corporate partner of the innovative Keystone program. The company has sponsored over 100 teachers from our communities all over the country to study environmental topics, participate in workshops and share experiences.
The curriculum is designed to bolster environmental science instruction and initiatives for teachers as they return to the classroom. The school challenges teachers and students to develop critical thinking skills as they follow a path that explores nature and science education. Making extensive use of an outdoor laboratory, the Keystone Institute nurtures scientific inquiry and cultivates sensitivity to the natural environment.
Keep America Beautiful
Georgia-Pacific believes we can protect our environment -- globally and locally-- through our everyday choices and actions. For this reason, the Georgia-Pacific foundation is proud to be a working partner with local organizations such as Keep America Beautiful. An affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., Keep America Beautiful's public education and community improvement programs mirror the foundation's own goals of noticeably enhancing a community's quality of life. Working together, we inspire and enable citizens and GP employee volunteers to eliminate litter, recycle, work on beautification projects and conserve natural resources.
